We welcome your comments on the open blog thread for this show.

YouTube comments are at present disabled in our channel, to the displeasure of some. However, each video has a prominent link to the associated open thread that appears on our blog. In the past we’ve tried opening up the channel to comments, but we found that a very high number of episodes wound up being flooded with a combination of spam, long winded apologists, and various obscene or misogynistic comments directed at various hosts by people with an axe to grind. This seems to be the nature of YouTube comment sections, in our experience.

We do moderate the blog, the same way that we moderate chat during the show, as well as comments on our Facebook group. For comment sections that are “officially” associated with our show (and, to a much lesser extent, channels that may give the unintended appearance of being official), we prefer not to play host to straight up ad hominem attacks and bigotry. As a general policy we do not block commenters simply on the basis of disagreement with our point of view. However, we do prefer discussion environments that don’t actively chase off more reasonable contributors.

You can read more about this show on the Atheist Experience blog:

The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.

The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

  1. Religions are a multi-billion dollar per year industry that "sells"
stories in mythology for untraceable TAX EXEMPT donation dollars.
Invisible gods, devils, and demons only exist in mythology but the
religions claim they really exist to scare people into donating money to
uh "spread the good word". And by spreading the "good word" they gain
more donating members. Religions start by indoctrinating (grooming)
children with their beliefs in their invisible "God" and then when the
children reach adulthood they begin working and donating money and
continue donating money until they die. So 18 to 20 years of grooming
nets 50 to 60 years of donating. It's all about making untraceable TAX
EXEMPT money for the owners of the churches. The gullible members never
realize their INVISIBLE "god" only exists in MYTHOLOGY.

  2. to the caller… u HAVE not looked for any evidence beyond self depriving … try to google shit cuz u have made yourself willfully ignorant. it took me less than 30 seconds to find 100s of testimonies that ppl who have seen allah and krishna…dumb ass

  3. He doesn’t realize that his argument is based on some inaccurate data. Muslims won’t ask to see God because in Islam God is formless and cannot manifest in a physical form. Hindus often claim to see visions of their Gods. In fact, famous mystics claim that they see various deities. On the other hand, a Hindu is not required to believe in God. Atheistic agnosticism is completely consistent with Hinduism. Hindus also do not believe that God has any particular form.

  4. Hallucination is not God. The brain's chemistry can do "magical" things. Did he bring back evidence of God's physical presence? No? Next…

  5. Alex, You're confusing assertion with evidence. It may help to just study the two words and realize we use them differently for a reason. And about the hallucination I don't know what to say. I believed for over half my life that God spoke to me at 14 years old. It was just my imagination.

  6. When I was 14, I Heard a Voice telling me that I would "have nothing until you come to me". My life is over now and I realize it was all just me. It was me all along. I had my own experiences that I thought was evidence of the Holy Spirit or God. It's all just emotional. It's feelings I had.
No child should ever be told that they are broken, less than average, deserving of hell if they don't believe the god story.
This garbage has left a scar in me. People should not be told they are broken.

  7. Blah blah blah blah blah..typical christian bogus crap that only christians believe…ridiculous…this guy is so stupid I couldnt even watch the end of this clip…he just calls to give his story like the rest of them

  8. No one no single instance never in the history I have never heard of a Muslim seeing Allah, but I do see Jesus Christ. Checkmate, infidels apostates <insert acceptable definition here>

  9. The reason some Hindus don't claim they see a god/have a mystical experience is because it is supposed to be kept secret so as to not become proud. pride would reflect on Karma

  10. First of all, how does Alex from Hawaii even know what Jesus looks like? He doesn't have a verified version of Jesus to compare his vision to.
Second of all, he mentioned Muslims multiple times, to say that they don't see Mohammed or Allah. But it's important to note that Muslims are forbidden from portraying religious figures, including Jesus, btw, in images and statues, etc.
So it makes sense that Muslims wouldn't be making such claims. The rare Muslims who see Jesus when they hallucinate, could be explained by the fact that Jesus is often depicted in photos, videos, paintings and other art. So it's really a faulty argument.
I'm also rejecting his whole story to begin with.
And Alex, if you honestly believe Jesus exists, do you think he'd mind you LYING to make a case for him existing?
