Pope: “Here too I think of the immense suffering caused by the abuse of children, especially within the Church and by her ministers. Above all, I express my deep sorrow to the innocent victims of these unspeakable crimes, along with my hope that the power of Christ’s grace, his sacrifice of reconciliation, will bring deep healing and peace to their lives. I also acknowledge, with you, the shame and humiliation which all of us have suffered because of these sins; and I invite you to offer it to the Lord with trust that this chastisement will contribute to the healing of the victims, the purification of the Church and the renewal of her age-old commitment to the education and care of young people. I express my gratitude for the efforts being made to address this problem responsibly, and I ask all of you to show your concern for the victims and solidarity with your priests.” .

  1. @godislove010 i am a person who is disgusted by the torture and rape of children. and i dont care if the child molesters and the ones who covered it up say they are sorry, i just want them proscecuted and incarcerated for any crimes they have committed, to insure that they can't molest any other children.

  2. @hopefaithNcharity92 next week CNN is doing a special on the whole abuse scandal and what the pope knew! If you care about your church i suggest you watch it and then you can debate anything you disagree with and perhaps we'll both learn something we didnt know! As ive said serving god and being a catholic is fine but to believe the pope is infallable which he isnt is silly! the church needs to come clean( handing over all guilty priests to authorities) then perhaps honor can be restored..

  3. @hopefaithNcharity92 bbcnews recently documented a group of abuse victims who were turned away and not granted permission to even speak to a high ranking cardinal let alone the pope- why is he apoligizing the same reason BP apoligized- public relations and money! The church is losing people like flies! hence losing money!! The church and the pope are corrupt and amoral end of story! He is only apoligizing because the public has had enough as have many catholics!

  4. @godislove010 do you condone child rape and torture? I never met hitler but i can still judge his actions. i dont think that this man called benedict has a deep relationship with God, otherwise he wouldn't be covering up child rape and torture to protect the men who perpetrated these crimes.

  5. call me a troll but ill defend innocent children who were raped before ill defend a a corrupt church and heriarchy! Like i said most catholics are wonderful people but the people running the church are as evil and corrupt as any politician!

  6. @hopefaithNcharity92 like i said if the guy down the street raped your child and then your child later comitted suicide because he was so emotionally traumatized( by the way the number of suicides from church abuse victims is in the thousands) and then nothing was done(no prison- no punishment) im sure: im sorry wouldnt cut it for you either

  7. @hopefaithNcharity92 – i dont hate catholics- the church and its the pope and its power system that is a front to god- second CNN is doing a special next week on what the pope knew and it isnt good news for catholics- apoligies mean nothing when your part of the institution that hid it- hey genius did you know the vatican paid off people for silence refused to hand over priests to the police- moved habitual offending priest around and as recently as two months ago were found to be doing it

  8. inaction against evil is as bad as participation in evil- hence the pope is guilty as is the church! And still the shuffling of abusive priests continues as do the silence bribes- the church before the innocent-hmmmmmm! not very holy in my book!

  9. @ozonv you wouldnt say that if it were you or your child you piece of shit! say that to the many people who killed themselves because they were betrayed by men who are suppossed to be men of god! Spreading hatred- dear god your delusional! Yes blame the innocent people who were raped by your churchs representatives- yes id like to see how far that will go for you! One of the most riduculous callous remarks about sexual abuse ive ever heard!

  10. @hopefaithNcharity92 i judge myself all the time but one thing i know is im not a child molester and nor was i part of a instituionalized effort to hide payoff and dismiss abuse victims! Your pope is the antithesis of jesus- pomp robes wealth power heriarchy- ps nice mouth for a someone claims to be religous!

  11. God has long since abandoned the Catholic church. That is why these atrocities have occurred, and have been occurring for such a long time – God has left. The Roman Catholic church is an apostate form of Christianity, and God expresses His wrath by abandonment. And this huge sex abuse scandal bears witness to that.

Read the Bible, Romans 1:18 – 32, it tells about this.
